Dear Diary,

Forgot to mention an interesting thing. Interesting to me anyway.

Remember back a few weeks ago when Evelina invited me to a concert, then never got back to me about getting together? Well about ten or so days ago I got an email from her all: hi, how's it going, I miss you blah blah blah and I have a friend that might be interested in your work, blah blah blah. I emailed her back, basic details of how her friend could find me and that I was fine, just kind of short because basically, I am getting really tired of people dangling carrots in my face and then snatching them away. Evelina seems to have a penchant for doing this- she is constantly making plans, then just seems to forget the day and never calls to confirm or anything. And each time it's like she is willing to make a new plan with no acknowledgement that she flaked on the last one, a la "Memento".

So I know this is something I should talk to her about, since she just sent me another email all blahbitty-blah, and I am just ignoring her because I'm mad. I know that's not the best way to go about it, but I just need some time to choose my words and truthfully at this point, there are so many other things that are more important to me right now.

And along the same vein... got a text or two from Emily that she was in town (I wasn't- I was off on my chick's weekend with minimal reception, plus, I just wanted to be in my EXPERIENCE and not having to return every call RIGHT AWAY. Jeebus). Anyway a couple of texts and then she finally calls me, she's in town and worried where am I? The ironic thing is the tables are turned because Emily very often does not respond to my calls, texts or emails. I knew she was sick and sent her quite a bit of correspondence inqiring about her health and passing along some research and specialists' names- and never heard from her at all, not since I saw her last time, which I think was a month and a half ago? This is also the same girl who once admitted to me that she doesn't even bother to listen to her phone messages because she figures "if it's important they'll call back."

Then I finally returned her call while I was sitting in the airport, the first moment I felt I had to myself in a bit- and she says she's in town and wants to go to this and that. I told her my schedule is pretty full because I try to work as much as I can before the holidays, and she acted all disappointed. Even though she constantly does this, tells me last minute that she is coming into town and wants me to drop things for her plans... gah. It is kind of like the Evelina thing, but a bit different... but still doesn't take into account that I am an individual with a life of my own.

And let's not even talk about Jerry, who just seems to be full of hot air... sometimes he acts like he is so much more "real" than other people, like he is better than them, but he is a carrot-dangler as well and nothing comes to fruition with him.

Smitten, no word from him at all since that last smattering of emails. He's in Europe now, and maybe he will stay there... which is fine, because it totally helps to build his image of himself where he believes he's all cultured and better than everyone else...

Don't ask me how I got on that subject, but it just had to come up.
